This forest held a warmth and orange tent to it as golden rays of suns beamed into the trees and dotted the ground with beautiful colors. On the forest floor were leaves from the previous fall and winters. The road that went through the forest was made by humans from hundreds of years ago and it was still in rather good shape. In some places, large oak trees had grown through the pavement, but it made a beautiful look in the forest, though only one horse could careless for beauty and that was the King of the Demonic Alliance, Felix Hell.
The black mass moved through the forest, the trees that swayed gently in the wind did not expect to see the large black stallion come forth. Brown eyes glanced around as his feather legs touched the black pavement as he stopped within’ the spring sun rays and took in a deep breathe. Brown eyes searched the land, he was searching for any dark, he needed to bring them together, to form them up so they could be prepared for anything and everything. He knew that anything could and might possible happen, but he wanted to be prepared for anything.
The lights did not want war, he did not war… Not right now, their time would come and he would make them burn…

The blood bay painted mare made her way through the many pathways leading thoughout the forest. The sun peaked its way through the tall canopy's and searched for her but with no avail. Sokanon kept herself to the shadows not wanting to be seen. Her hooves punctured the soft forest floor, leaving indentions of herself and where she had come from. The remains of the two legged beings still lay evident in many places through the lands. Here, it was the hard gray ground that made clickign noises as she walked across it. It was both a foreign noise yet held her interest as she walked on.
Slinking through the dense brush and hiding in the darkened shadows, the young mare came across something she was not prepared for. Another equine stood out in front of her. His black hide glistening in the sunlight. His strong pungent smell entered her nares as her lungs filled yet again with air. She wasn't sure if she should show herself or remain in the darkness for the time being and see what the mister did. Fear did not pierce the mare in any way for he did not frighten her. More so, she just didn't want company. She did not want a meaningless conversation with another meaningless being. So for now, she stayed in the shadows, watching the stud as he stood there in the light. ________________________

The sun dappled over his body with warm rays that made patterns and caused him to glisten slightly. He glanced around, dark brown eyes moving over the terrain… Something caught his eyes, but he was not sure, he saw many shadows in this forest, the spring sun caused that to happen and it made him uneasy sometimes. He was a king, right? He didn’t need to fear, but then again, it was never a bad thing to be cautious about shadows, sometimes, they could be hiding things. The sound of something touch his ears and he turned them towards the sound before turning his head towards shadows not far from him. What was near him? He could hear it, but he could not see it.
The wind changed direction, moving towards him from the shadow and with the wind came the scent of a new being, a horse that was near him and a mare at that. He turned his body towards the shadow, the scent strong as the breeze blew past him and into the land of unknown and known. ”Who lurks in those shadows of these forest?” He asked, his voice deep and strong as he stood there, looking around for a moment and tossing his head slightly before snorting. He lifted his black head, looking at the shadow, noticing a silhouette of something, but not the details.

Actions. Thoughts. "Speech"
Sokanon cursed herself for being weak and hiding in the shadows. It wasn't that she was scared really, it was the fact that this brute was large and could easily take her. She wasn't really wanting a fight at that moment and knowing how hard it was for her to hold her tongue, he was probably end up very much dislikeing her. Sokanon wasn't one to shy away from speaking her mind. It usually got her into trouble but she wasn't about to change who she was. No way.
Standing there in the shadows, the blood bay mare watched the ebony stag as he stood in the light of the sun that made its way through the canopy. As she stood there, he seemed to become slightly uneasy. He seemed to be aware of no longer being alone. Her harks fell to hug her crania as she stood there in hiding. It made her a little ill at ease as well as he started to look around, searching for her.
The mare seemed to sense the change in direction and as soon as her own scent was blown towards the stag he moved towards her hiding spot. Her cover had been blown, literally. Her dual colored eyes watched as he made his way closer to her, his deep voice was strong as he spoke to whomever was in the shadows. "Who lurks in those shadows of these forest?" Sokanon watched him as he stared in her direction, waiting for her to show herself. Finally, she snorted and pushed herself through the dense brush and showed herself. Her own body entering the bright sunlight, iluminating her own markings. "Is such a name so important? For I am sure you would not call me be such." Her own lyrics playing off her tongue were light and playful but yet held a sort of mocking tone to them. He wasn't in anway trying to upset the ebony brute, but she figured she might as well have fun with the situation. ________________________

As he waited, the wind changed directions to move towards the location of the creature within’ the shadows and he snorted, waiting to see if she would come from her hiding place or if he would have to force the cowards out. It did not take long and soon he was able to see her for himself. She looked to be of the breed known as Lusitiano, a breed that held strong muscles and good looks, but was she pure? Probably not… Those were generally solid colors and mostly grey, bay or chestnut, not the color of those known as Paints. It must have been an impurity in breeding and he felt disgusted. Did anyone have any respect for blood and breeding? So many were out to just breed with the first fine looking horse they saw without learning of what they were. It was truly disgusting and so disrespectful to others like himself. His father had warned him about such things and it was not hard to see now as he looked at the mare. Such a shame to see the breeds so impure these days. He thought to himself before he shook his body.
”Is such a name so important? For I am sure you would not call me be such." He looked at her for a moment and smiled. She had class, didn’t she. He would give her that, her lyrics played with a tone that was not a game but also not something he needed to get caught in. He lifted his head slightly and tilted it before speaking again. ”You underestimate my own actions, mare. Now, if you would like, I can call you anything I want… Wretch, heifer, or dame… Or you can give me a name and might just call you by that. So, what will it be mare?”
|
He asked the mare, wondering what she was going to say to that. His body looked strong and his muscles rippled as he moved, making the rays of sun money in a way that showed his tone body. Clearly, the stud in front of her was of some sort of power yet she did not know his name. He pelt was ebony yet glistened in the rays of sunshine peaking their way through the canopy. This stud was clearly of higher ranking. She could tell with just how he held himself. Then again, she could be wrong but she doubted it. Sokanon had gotten fairly good at being able to tell such things. As she showed herself, the mare felt his eyes on her. She wondered what he was thinking, what was on his mind. Sometimes Sokanon wished she could hear the thoughts of others so she could easily know what they were thinking, but with an almost near impossible gift, such things would never happen. Her dual colored eyes watched him closely as he shook his body, ears twitched.
After replying to his comment, the stud got a smile on his face. But not a happy smile, more of a menacing smile, something any other normal equine would have worried about. Sokanon just watched him, waiting for his tones to fill the air again. She had a feeling he would retort with a very snide and sarcastic remark, he just seemed like such a stud. And sure enough, "You underestimate my own actions, mare. Now, if you would like, I can call you anything I want. . . wretch, heifer, or dame . . . or you can give me a name and might just call you by that. So, what will it be mare?" Her ears twitched as she listened. He sure was a crude one that was for sure, but yet, it didn't really bother her much. Sokanon usually could dish out what others gave her.
Sokanon took a moment, watching him, analyzing him. Finally, she spoke, keeping her tones pretty emotionless towards the brute for she was anything but amused. "Your crude names mean nothing to me brute but nice try." She grinned and waited a second and then continued. "But if you must know, I am called Sokanon. Not that it means much to a stud like you." She knew she probably should learn to hold her tongue more but it was just too much fun to test the waters. Her eyes watched him and her tail twitched. Did she cross the line already?

Was the black beast going to learn the name of this painted mare? Was she going to play hard at with information? Games were not upon his list to play, but he would play if he had to, but then again, he really didn’t need this mare at all, he found no reason to play games with her. The sun that filtered down through the trees caused his pelt to heat in certain places and he glanced at a few spots, noticing the area that were warmer than the rest. He really didn’t care to get hot right now, it was the reason he came to the forest, but luckily, it was not something he couldn’t ignore.
He really needed to start thinking about the royal herd more. He needed herd members to take ranks, to become the army that would one day crush those pathetic lights and cause chaos for this land until they bowed to him as their supreme ruler. But at the moment, the divine were just as small as the demonic and he could bid his time a bit. He didn’t want to go out and find horses, he wanted them to want his herd, he wanted them to come to him, but a few hints to them… That would work. The beast wanted his alliance to become the best, to prosper and live a better life than those wretched lights who consider themselves better than the darks because they were ones for peace and love.
Those ears, they had moved slightly, a small twitch towards his words and the beast wondered what she was thinking, what was roaming through her own mind as she sat there waiting to see what would happen. What would she said to his words, those words that some would find insulting. ”Your crude names mean nothing to me brute but nice try." He lifted his head slightly, a smile on his face. ”Good, I wouldn’t want to be in the company of a child.” He said to her, knowing most mares would find his words insulting and get all… puffy. ”But if you must know, I am called Sokanon. Not that it means much to a stud like you." He tilted his head slightly and snorted before looking at her. ”Oh contraire, names mean a lot to me… You see, knowing the names of those who live in this land help me know whom I am in contact with. Whom I need to keep an eye on and whom is not worthy of my time.”

Not scared of him but more like wary. Sokanon wasn't about to let her guard down being near the stallion. This brute seemed to do more thinking in his head, analyzing. He seemed the more quiet type that let actions speak louder than words. That was one thing the young fae worried about. Never knowing what the stallion was really going to do, until it was too late. Sokanon had come across equines with such personality. They were hard to read and very unpredictable. She didn't think he was any different. The way he carried himself and they way he spoke told her she better be careful.
Sokanon wasn't sure what this stallion wanted but she wasn't afraid to stick around and find out. You could call her a daredevil. She laughs in the face of danger. Well, to a point. At this point, she had a wave of adrenaline running through her body as she watched the stallion. It was exciting. The rush was what Sokanon was looking for. She felt her life was rather boring lately and the rush of danger and the unknown was something the young mare liked to feel. Was she in danger? Hell, probably. Would he hurt her? No one knew. The painted fae was new to the lands and was really up for anything at that moment. It was actually very odd of her to be so open to such things such as the situation she was in but at that moment, she didn't care.
Standing there in the open light as it shown down on her, warmed her to the core. Who knew it would get so warm. Standing their, Sokanon's mind wandered to her surroundings again. She listened to the way the trees moved and the creatures that lived within them. Birds of all kinds, singing their songs. Annoying is what she would say. Sure, they made the silence less . . unbearable. However, Sokanon got annoyed rather quickly with their everyday happy song. There was no way that everyday was that happy. No way. Not for her. But soon her thoughts were inturrupted as the stallion spoke again. "Good, I wouldn't want to be in the company of a child." Child? Who did she think she was? She snorted at his lyrics as they floated up into the air. Soon he spoke again after she had finally given her name. It was just a name so it was not a big deal to share such thing with a stranger. "Oh contraire, names mean a lot to me. . . You see, knowing the names of those who live in this land help me know whom I am in contact with. Whom I need to keep an eye on and whom is not worthy of my time."
She gave a huff, rolling her eyes. "And why is your time so important stallion? Why is my time any less then yours?" She spoke, spitting her questions at him like a snake. Sokanon hated when stallions thought they were better then the mare. Sure, he may be stronger and such but why should his time be any different then hers? She didn't hear him spitting out his calling at the drop of a dime. Worthy of his time. Ha. This stallion spoke as if his time was precious. Time was every moving, always changing. It wasn't like he would run out of such a thing. Her harks pinned to her cranium. "Dare I even ask what 'is' worth your time?" Words rolled off her tongue with venom. Sure, she would take his words as she was not hurt be such a thing. They were just words after all.

A smooth, cooling wind moved through the trees, slicing like a blade easily through the leaves and the grasses below and the leaves above. Brown orbs glanced above them, watching as the leaves moved and swayed against the wind. As they rubs against each other they made a soft noise that most would find calming and relaxing. The beast whom watched the movement merely glanced away, back at the icy eyes of the mare that stood before him and upon her body. What about her caught his attention? It was nothing of attraction that caught him; his need for wanting to keep his lineage pure prevented such things from happened. He would not be the one to ruin the lineage his family had sworn to protect… No, it was not attractions… Her black locks moved as the wind touched them, causing them to sway like the leaves above and moved across her cold gaze as she watched him. Her painted body moved with each breath and each movement that she allowed to be seen. Shadows from above danced over her pelt, as if dancing to that bothersome noise that came from the spring birds… What about her caught his attention, made him want to learn more about her… Maybe it was just his need for knowledge, need to know about everything and everyone whom walked upon the land and he came into contact with.
The silence that he had no problem keeping was possible bothering the mare as it normally bothered others whom he came into contact with. The beast stood in silence, just wondering what this mare was going to do, she seemed a bit on the cautious side. It was natural when a mare was around a stallion or even any horse was around another one. The beast stood without problem, his body relaxed as he saw no reason to be completely cautious. Sure, he was careful, he watched her with dark brown eyes, taking in each movement. At every sound, his ear flinched towards that sound and then returned to her. He didn’t need to fear about everything, he didn’t have a reason and he won’t do that. However, even though she seemed cautious, she did not flee like a child or a pathetic mare… No, she stuck around the area, she watched him and she made conversation.
Well, the mare could relax… It was her lucky day… No harm would come to her from this stallion, he had no reason to her this mare.
The blackness of his pelt warmed under the rays of the sun that shown over the forest, some areas getting extra hot from the constant contact with the rays. It didn’t feel good on his pelt, it was hot but he was not going to move for that. He would live through a few hot spots, he had to… Moving just because he got a little hot was a sorry excuse… Now, he focused his mind on this mare, relieved that she was not one of those mares who got butt hurt from the words of another. Such a thing was a form of childish worries, it was a sign of weakness and gave advantage to the other side, allowed them to use that to their advantage. ”And why is your time so important stallion? Why is my time any less than yours?" His head tilted slightly to the side at her words. ”I never said your time was less than my own… But I have important deadlines and important things that must be done… Should everyone be worthy of time? What if it is nothing more than a stallion that complains? Should I waste my time listening or move on?” He said, asking the question to see what her answer would be. He obviously found a reason to make time for this mare, to stand before her and make conversation verses brushing her off like a flack of dirt that had come upon his pelt. ”Dare I even ask what 'is' worth your time?" He snorted slightly at her words, watching and listening to everything around them. ”Well, I could name a few things… Important meetings… My herd… My herd horses… Those are worthy of my time and I need to give them time…”

Such places like this intrigued the young mare. So many things lived in places like this. So many creatures, good and evil. But would she live in a place like this? Unsure of that answer, her eyes soon met with the ebony stag. His eyes were dark and cold in a way. Sokanon began to wonder what he would have gone through or been through that would make someone like this. Or was he born this way, cold and heartless. No emotion to run through his face. It was possible. The painted mare was interested but wasn't fully sure as to why. He was arrogant it seemed and rather cocky of his position. Breaths were even as she stood in front of the midnight stallion. He was handsome, she would give him that. But that was all she was willing to allow. Sokanon watched as the shadows danced upon his and her pelt alike. The branches high above moved in the sunlight, dancing in the breeze.
Sokanon was not a fan of the quiet that encircled them. It was the repetitive noises in the backgrounds that bugged her the most. Over and over again the branches moved. Such noises seemed to mock her, taunt her, as she stood in the silence. Her body shifted in annoyance of the sounds but in mere impatience as well. The mare was not known to be a patient being and that usually got her into trouble. Her dual toned eyes watched him. He was cool and still, unwavering as he stood in his place. How was he not bothered by such noises? Her auds twitched, unsure of his intentions and the thoughts as he stood there watching her as well. The stallion seemed to be without worries in the things around him. Sokanon soon grew uncomfortable with the eye contact and looked away, his stare making her uneasy. What was going on?
Her body warmed with the rays of sunlight beating down on herself and the stallion. Stil not knowing the stallions name, she felt rather . . out in the open. He knew her but she knew nothing of him. It made her feel very uncomfortable knowing that he knew her but she still had no idea who this black stag was. Sure, he was someone of power, but his name was still unknown. His words were not ones that could or would hurt her. She had a 'tough skin' so to speak. It took a lot to bother her when it came to speech, words were nothing to worry about to her. "I never said your time was less than my own . . . But I have important deadlines and important things that must be done . . . Should everyone be worthy of time? What if it is nothing more than a stallion that complains? Should I waste my time listening or move on?" Sokanon took in his words. He was right though. But what was so important? Why was his tim so important? It just didn't make any sense. It couldn't be that important. Time was just time. Always moving. Always changing. She was a little curious as to why he was spending his 'precious' time talking to her though. "Yet here you stand, speaking with a stranger?" Her tone was flirty yet serious. She tried to keep a cool even tone as he was doing. It wasn't as easy as she had hoped but she was doing fairly well. The mare knew better then to flirt with just any stallion so she didn't want to be obvious, which she was good at.
Sokanon stood there watching, listening to him, for him to reply to her question. Finally it came. "Well, I could name a few things . . Important meetings . . My herd. . . My herd horses.. . Those are worthy of my time and I need to give them time. . . " She agreed. If he was indeed a herd leader, he made a valid point. Time was always given to the herd. The ones he would be protecting and leading over. They were priority, this she understood. Yet, something inside her was glad he was still standing there with her, giving her time as well. She was just some stranger he had met along his route and decided to speak with. "Those are important, you are right. I am keeping you then?" Her statement turned more into a question. She did not mean to keep him from him priorities, but she was enjoying their conversation.

A bird flew nearby, her songs touching the ears of the black beast that stood before the painted mare. The flapping of wings caused the stallions ears to twitch towards the sound, his dark brown eyes barely moving from the mare before him as he glanced to see the red cardinal touch the limb that was near the both of them. Her feathers were as red as blood, her eyes looking at him for a moment before they were gone again. Wings took her into the air gracefully, the red bird disappearing into the brush above their heads and the beast returning his own eyes back to the mare, the darkness looking over her as he took in every curve, every detail of her body. Those blue eyes took in his own blackness, his body stood tall and strong, showing a proudness that he had and didn’t care to show to others. ”Everyone should know who we are, son.” The words of his father spoke into his own mind, the words that had been taught to him over the five years that he had been alive. Hell Fire was not a stallion that was to be messed with and neither was Felix…
Was he born with this personality? No, no foal should be born like this, but he learned it… He was taught to be cold and only warm to those whom had his heart and that was his family… When he had one… And that was only in private, such public displays could end in disaster. You never showed love to anyone in public, it was the one thing that a true stallion never did… You had to keep that a secret and you had to hide your own emotions.
The thoughts of his lessons came to mind and then he returned his own eyes and mind to the mare that was before him. The silence that she continued to hold was something he could return. He had no problem holding silence, it was the quiet that allowed him to learn. The painted mare observed him and it told him she was possible a bit cautious or she just wanted to learn about him. The air moved over his body, pushing the leaves that fell from their spring home around them, pushing them into the shadows of the forest. His ears flicked towards the sound of the branches brushing against the other, the leaves rustling…
Movement… That body moved before him, shifting weight ever so slightly around… Why would she be shifting her weight? Could it be she was not in a comfortable position? Maybe she was not comfortable with the silence… It was very possible, he had seen mares like that and it was normal for them for the most part. They didn’t like silence all the time, they liked talking, speaking their own mind and he did not mind that at all. It was truth.
The very name he had been given had not been told and he was not sure if he wanted to tell her. Sure, the fact that she wanted to know was probably very much a thought in her own mind and sooner or later he would ask her. Maybe it was best that he just waited or her to ask him, that was always fun, right? Waiting games were the best; it was the time to figure out one another’s true intentions. As he had spoken to her, he noticed that maybe she agreed with him. She did not nod towards him, but her eyes spoke enough to tell him she was thinking it over. ”Yet here you stand, speaking with a stranger?" A smile touched his darkened lips and he allowed a chuckle came from him. ”Then, my time is not rushed at the moment… I have time to spare and spent how I wish.” Deep words came from his lips, the voice low in tone and strong. The flirting tone had barely touched his soul, not even a little bit. Maybe it was because his soul was already a cold pit?
As he spoke again about his heard, he wondered what her thought were again. Again, he did not know her thoughts and it was because he did not have the ability to read minds. Such a power was something he didn’t want and Felix already knew what he wanted. ”Those are important, you are right. I am keeping you then?" A thought wondered through his mind and he took in a breathe before shaking his head. ”No, if you were than I would have never asked you from your shadow.”

She was not used to being so close to a stallion of such stature. Everything about him screamed a high title. The way he held himself and the way he spoke to her. This made Sokanon tread carefully of the path which lay before her. She didn't really want to say the wrong thing yet it was hard to hold her tongue. The young mare was not used to having to hold it and it usually flapped and said whatever she wanted. So far, she seemed to be doing a fairly decent job as she had not affended the stallion yet, or so she didn't think. They two of them stood in silence for a moment as the stallion seemed to watch the animals around him. Curious? Or merely just staring off in space? Maybe he had many things on his mind? Sokanon wasn't really sure.
The silence between them did not seem to be a big deal as he also kept the silence. Stillness and quiet was something the young mare was used to. She made her way quietly through the lands never making herself known to others and slipping on by without a trace. But he caught her. He caught her slipping through the darkness and called her out. Now, she will speak but no promises on which will come from her own lips.
Their eyes met again, blue meeting black. His eyes held no such emotion and the painted mare had a hard time telling what he was feeling. He let nothing of his emotions run along his body and was almost like a cold stone, hiding all weakness. She supposed this was a good trait for a stallion of his stature so she let it roll off her mind. The wind blew quietly around them, each mane fluttering in the breeze. The sound of the leaves blowing in the breeze was the only sound, besides the rustling of underbrush. They were not alone. Never in this world would anyone be truly alone.
The stallion seemed to notice her slight movement to reposition herself. She had been standing in a wierd position that did not fare well for her so she moved slightly. Then again that was also sort of an excuse as well as she did feel a little uneasy around the dark stallion. She really really nervous more or less cautious. Sokanon too tried to hide her emotions but it was much harder for her. It must have been easy for him being such a dark ebony but for her, it was hard to hide anything. Her whole body was like a giant sign that said, 'hey, look at me.'
It was true. He was speaking with a stranger and she too. Though, she had nothing better to do then to talk with someone she had come across in the forest. But he, he seemed to be hiding something or even just with holding something from her. Then again, he didn't need to tell her anything for that matter. "Then, my time is not rushed at the moment. . . . I have time to spare and spend how I wish." It was true and she gave him a slight nod of understanding. "Yes, so you are correct. . . so how do you wish to spend it?" It may have been a question that was slightly pushy and may have interfered in his personal life but to Sokanon she had no boundaries, she asked what came to her mind when she felt as so asking.
She did not wish to keep the stallion from anything he need to do or get done. That seemed rather disrespectful in her book. Her blue eyes watched him closely, still unable to read anything about him. It was impossible. But when he spoke again, she couldn't help but to chuckle. "Yes, this is true." A smile formed on her lips again for a moment before it slowly faded. She then thought for a moment and then spoke quietly. "So why did you ask me from the shadows?" Surely there had to have been a reason, right?

This mare seemed rather nervous and her movement, though only slight, showed her uneasy around him. Why? He didn’t know why and the stallion was asking why she was nervous around him. Allowing this to just leave his mind, he stood watching everyone and everything, mostly the mare. Why had she been lurking in the shadows of this forest? That was the question he wanted to know the most. What made this equine hide within’ the shadows and stay hiding when another came around. Did she not know that it was a way to get herself killed? Some did not like this and would attack her because of her lurking. “Yes, so you are correct. . . so how do you wish to spend it?"

Well, wasn’t she a pushy little equine. ”How I wish.” With a tone that was low and bored like, his eyes stay upon her and he wondered what else she would say and have to say. Hearing a chuckle come from her lips made him wonder what it was about. ”Yes, this is true." A small smile form on his lips and he snorted ever so slightly. ”So why did you ask me from the shadows?" Looking her up and down for a moment, he lifted his head. ”Those who lurk are never to be underestimated… I want to see the equine who chose to lurk within’ the shadows and find out what might be following me or watching me.” WC. 000 not counting, too short TAG. sokanon by tweety COM. sucked...
