BIM is not just about using design software On the other hand, it is a very common mistake (especially among people who are starting to get into this system) to reduce BIM to the mere use of a specific software, such as Revit (from Autodesk) or Archicad (from Graphisoft) or , in an even more basic way, to a 3D CAD computer-aided three-dimensional drawing program, such as Autocad 3D (from Autodesk). Nothing is further from reality. Although BIM requires three-dimensional modeling of a virtual model of the construction, which is carried out using a certain computer application, it does not stop at that. It is necessary to associate a huge amount of information with said model (material, cost, technical characteristics, assembly time, thermal insulation, fire resistance, etc.), so the design software must have specific utilities and commands for this, as well as interfaces for the exchange of all this information with all the agents involved in the project who, in addition, may use different software. But in addition to all these advantages, we must emphasize that sooner than we think, the use of the BIM methodology will begin to be mandatory in more and more types of projects.
Since the approval in 2014 of European Directives 2014/23/EU, relating to the award of concession contracts, and 2014/23/EU, on public procurement, the previous Ministry of Public Works developed an action Cyprus Phone Number List plan to promote a gradual approach to the moment in which the use of BIM is required, creating a BIM Commission (with representatives from different Ministries, public companies, professional associations, professional associations, educational sector, etc.) and 5 working groups for the preparation of documents that will help standardize this work methodology. As indicated on the Ministry's own website, “ the BIM methodology in Spain is contemplated, among others, in the National Reform Program of the Kingdom of Spain 2019, in the Green Public Procurement Plan of the General Administration of the State, its autonomous bodies and the Social Security managing entities, of February 2019, in the Spanish Circular Economy Strategy, of June 2020, or in the “Digital Agenda 2025, an agenda for the digital transformation of Spain”, of April 2020 ”. We will make reference, first of all, to the public entity of the Basque Railway Network ETS Euskal Trembide Sarea , dependent on the Basque Government, which for some time has been implementing this methodology, for which it has developed its own BIM manual, requiring that its service providers, contractors and subcontractors. Recreation of the new Zarautz station project. Acciona, Avintia and the Aragonese company Canfranc Espacio 2018 Construcciones SL, as winners of the tender, have hired the Zaragoza company Ingennus Urban Consulting SLP to develop said project that includes, among other actions, the conversion of the station into a hotel of more than 100 rooms or the conversion of the former dormitory of the French train drivers into the reception and cross-border information center for the French Camino de Santiago. And all this will be done by modeling these buildings in BIM.
