The project seeks to integrate universities, R&D centers, associations, producers, owners and industries to improve profitability and optimize the final quality of the products. At Garnica we are committed to innovation and sustainability, through sustainable forest management with a focus on continuous improvement . In recent years we have been involved in numerous R&D&I projects, among which Biopoptech stands out , a collaborative project dedicated to the promotion of poplar cultivation and its use in high added value products, financed by NextGeneration funds from the Union. European. The Biopoptech project focuses on the agroforestry field and aims to improve the competitiveness of primary poplar producers by integrating them into the forest-industry value chain through the optimization of varieties and improvement of valorization and standardization tools.
The project also contributes to the supply of renewable energy sources and presents synergies with other priorities such as improving water management. To achieve these objectives, different tests will be carried out with the main varieties of poplar throughout the Duero and Ebro basins . At Garnica, we will focus on characterizing the industrial properties of the board produced with each clone in different Austria Email List terrains, ages and climatic conditions, defining which varieties are most suitable for unrolling, maintaining the traceability of each clone in the forestry operation. Specifically, the project will cover at least 30 plots on different lands with the main clonal varieties of Euramericanos and Interamericanos that are currently of mature age. The first test plots will be with I-214 and Unal in Salas de Los Infantes and Hacinas, the results of which are expected before the summer after the production of different plywood tests at the Garnica facilities. At Garnica we believe that it is essential to continue generating knowledge in the industrial optimization of the different local forest species.
In this way, we will help forest owners get the most out of their land and create products with greater added value for our customers. Thanks to this project we will be able to continue advancing towards a sustainable production system, generating environmental and industrial value at the same time.
